Eligibility
For most positions, applicants must:
have at least 2 years of university German or equivalent (e.g. one year of university level German and participation in the Canadian Summer School in Germany);
be a permanent resident or landed immigrant in Canada;
be a student at a Canadian university or college before and after the program;
be between 18 and 30 years of age;
not have participated in the program in a previous year and
take part in the 3-day seminar in Germany.
The number of positions available is limited, but we expect 35 for 2009. The process is quite competitive, since the employers in Germany have many potential candidates to choose from, not only Canadian applicants. The WSP has no influence over which applicants receive job/internship offers, and only the best qualified and motivated applicants will be chosen. Applicants from any discipline may apply, provided they have the necessary language skills to enable them to function in their jobs in Germany.
Applications are due at the WSP office by January 15th of each year. All applications must be directed through the respective person responsible for German at their academic institution. Please note that internal deadlines for individual academic institutions will be before mid-December. If your university/ college does not have a German department please send your application directly to the address below.
